Cake For Breakfast!?

 Yes! I did!
I am a tad proud of myself...lol..my kids never ever eat cereal for breakfast, hardly ever, i normally always make them some sort of meal, pancakes, french toast scrambled eggs etc... But this week and next week Elijah has 2 whole weeks off from therapy and we kicked off his mini summer vacation with cake! What a fun way to celebrate, my kids were shocked mommy went so wild and crazy.

Julia at first was like, what did you do to my mommy and where is she?!

Just because i think this is a funny story..Elijah got a Cubbies cup from church, he now calls it his Jesus cup and only drinks from that one. True story.

Titus loved the whipped topping!

and Asher was just cute and perfect swinging in his swing and slept like a good baby through the whole thing! This morning was another story..i had to make pancakes and take care of a screaming baby at the same time..such is life..you win some and you lose some!

Enjoy!

Teething and Baths

Asher had his first bath submersed under water this weekend. He pretty much hated it. Can you tell? Cried through the whole thing!

Dont worry, he calmed down and smelled so yummy afterward ;) Hopefully he grow to enjoy them!

My Favorite pic of the weekend, Titus has been getting his canines, he has been miserable *cough*, *naughty* and also having a hard time sleeping...up at 5:30am on Friday..and passed out at lunch, no joke! Hahaha, being a toddler is tough!

2 Weeks Old! (Tomorrow)

Just in case you your a sucker for little boys in overalls..or baby's...or just general cuteness, i thought i would post! Asher's eyes seem to be getting a lighter blue color, so this would be 3 blue eyed children and one child with half blue half brown. Nice to know my brown eyed gene is so strong...Asher still has time to come over to my side, but he is following the color change of his other 2 blue eyed siblings so i am not holding out hope!

I have been spending the past 2 weeks falling in love, he makes it awfully easy! Great nurser, decent sleeper ,easy baby...i am one blessed mama!

Our First Week as a Family of 6!

We had such a full week this week! My husband had off from work for a whole week, i have never had that luxury before with other baby's, he always returned to work after the baby came home. We needed it though. We had so many appointments and crazy rushing around. It was not relaxing but very very needed! Julia and Elijah both ended up with ear infections (Elijah also had a sinus infection) the baby had 2 appointments in one week, he was jaundice and a weight check. Kristofer is getting new glasses and a he renewed his licence..etc etc..the list goes on and on..it was a bunch of little things, but they all added up! So i was very thankful for the extra hands. Seeing i was not intending to go into labor i had some projects i planned on getting done, one was going through all me and my sisters kids clothes and pulling some stuff for a benefit garage sale, we did this 4 days after Asher was born, and it took 5 hours, and we didnt even get to a couple sizes..lol..but got allot done in that time! I was pleased! Also i am switching out seasonal clothes and putting away clothes my kids have grown out of, i am so close to that being done..but its taking a little while longer than anticipated!

This is Asher at his first Doctor appointment, at his lowest weight..no worries though, he gained 6 and 1/2 oz in the two days after this and was up to birth weight by one week old! He was alittle jaundice but the numbers are going down so its nothing to worry about!

This is me and my Grannie Maynerd, is is in her high 90s (98 ?) and she wanted to meet Asher so badly, so i took him when he was 5 days old to meet his great great grandma..it was pretty special!

Julia didnt like seeing Grannie so weak, it was a little hard for my compassionate girl

At a week old Asher went to Spring dale farms and the kids loved it!

Elijah is begging to go back already

julia loved the horse

and the peacock showed off for us!

Ashers first day in church..he nursed through most of second service though

And a visit from a dear friend and her family.. Titus was smitten!

What a fun week!

Asher Wilson Hodges, the birth story

For those of you who are un aware, we had Asher Wilson Hodges on June 2nd 2012. What a surprise to me! I had a regular doctors appointment that afternoon and she said that his head was very high and he could flip..at that point i was 3 basically 4 cmm dilated and had been contracting sense the day before. I went home bound and determined to walk and get Ashers head to drop into place. When i left the Doctors office the contractions started to get really bad, so bad my tummy was constantly tight and never stopped or relaxed for long periods of time...but with my other baby's when ever i was checked like that i always had a hour of strong contractions and they died down. So i figured this was the usual and was ready to my way back home to Rochester and start nesting for the baby i was sure i would have the following week! I was so behind in house work the idea of having Asher was far far from my mind. I had lists and not every thing was checked off of them! But my contractions never stopped..in fact they got reallly bad, i waited over 6 hours before giving in that yes, this must be it! I started throwing up every where..i couldn't eat and drink, because they were a minute apart. I was pretty bad. We called my Mom and had her meet up with us at a Burger King by the thru way and while in the parking lot waiting for her i gave those people a show :/ I feel really bad about that, but the contractions at that point were a minute apart and the strength of them were so hard it made me puke! Never happened to me in other labors before, but i do know it happens :)

It was raining pretty bad on the way to the hospital, my husband was a nervous wreck the whole time...i think he thought i was gonna deliver in the car, but i knew i was still a ways away from delivery. I called my doctor and she said she was gonna meet me at the hospital. When we got there she had already arrived and was waiting for me. I got all checked in and i was just shy of 5 cmm. The baby was still really high, so we had to play the waiting game. The doctor did not want to break my water because the baby was so high up if he dropped to quickly he could land on the cord and cause distress..so we decided to let my body continue to contract and see if that would drop him. Finally when i got to just shy of 6 cmm i had an ultra sound and made sure that the cord was clear of the babys head and she decided to go ahead and break my water..and boy did it break! I had huge amounts of water...like allot allot..like i flooded my hospital bed and every one could not get over it! which was probably the reason Ashers head wouldn't drop...lots of swimming room. After that there was allot of pain...and in less than 2 hours i knew it was time to push! I was able to get 4 great pushes in with each contraction..and he was out in 3 contractions! I felt everything! It was pretty intense! Lots of sweat and pressure ;) Right before it was time to push him out the doctor asked if i wanted to touch his head..so get this..i tried..and i couldn't! My arms were too short! lolol!!! So everyone was laughing at me while i finished delivering him. Once he was out my doctor immediately laid him on my belly and i got to stare in the eyes of my baby boy while they did vitals! It was amazing...such an awesome experience. Asher weighed in at 7lbs 13.6oz, 19 1/2 inches long. I was able to nurse him right away and he did amazing. My recovery so far has been phenomenal.  i feel amazing and have to remind myself to take it easy. i don't even feel like i just had a baby, well, besides the mind numbing exhaustion ;) Our family is so blessed! I will write an update soon on how the kids are all handling it, for now i must say, good night!
